Age 22 Male

Had Relex Smile performed on my eyes 4 days ago

vision before was -7 in right eye and -5.25 in left eye with some astigmatism

I got checked up day after surgery and been told i have 6/6 acuity. but it doesn't feel like it.

Is it normal to have hazy vision and hard to focus? and how long does it take to go away? I find if i wear sunglasses i can read my pc better.

Also does this sound normal for post op eye drop treatment? I've been told to use FML eye drops which are a steroid eye drop 4 times a day for 4 weeks. The leaflet says not to use them for more than a week and im worried about them damaging my eyes if i use them too long as i already have high pressure in my eyes.

Dear aza502,

Four days is really not long enough to decipher your situation. Not everyone having refractive surgery sees well at first. If your frustration persists you will need to have a more in-depth analysis of your visual outcome.

FML is a very mild steroid eye drop so I would not be concerned about taking it for a month. Still, if the post-op instructions recommend NOT taking it more than a week, then I would contact your surgeon and ask for an explanation.

Have you been a frequent soft contact lens wearer prior to Relex? Were you having a problem with the contact lenses?

Do you have any pre-op or post-op clinical data you can share?
