I'm quadra plugged and severly dry. Is there a contact lens that will keep my eyes moist and comfortable? I have good vision, I just need help with the dryness.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Generally not. Soft lenses dehydrate faster than the tear film, so in most cases they will exacerbate the drying.

Occasionally they can help some, but mostly not.

Scleral lenses might be worth a try. If you would like you can give me a call at 866-435-3539 and i can direct you to a doctor that fits sclerals in your area.

I agree with the idea that scleral leneses could help. You should contact Gelflex.

I would say that if you are plugged all 4 and still dry either 1) you have a pathologic condition which is causing the dryness 2) you dont really have "dry eye" but a different ocular suface condition with symptoms that mimic dry eye.

If you have a pathologic condition which is causing true dry eye (Sjogren's syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, etc...) you may want to consider getting on medication. There are oral meds for dryness that work well for some people. I had someone in your boat with DES from Sjogrens and she took an oral med (i forget which one) and experienced great relief. In additon topical medications like Restasis or steroids work for some people.

If you have something which mimics dry eye, then a contact lens CAN help. I usually use Night and Day lenses due to the low water content and high oxygen permeability.

Keep asking your doctor for ideas, if they ever say there is nothing else, get a second opinion Smile
