Hello Drs (You may have already answered this question in my above question - please disregard if that's the case) - however, if not, Dr. Mason indicated that - The distorted shape of your cornea is the issue. THe solution is not to correct the cyl, but to override the shape. THis is best done with GP lenses, or a rigid soft design. Purevision is one such lens. It will mask the aberrated shape.

What exactly is a rigid soft design? The hard inner area with the soft skirt? I'll check into the Purevision lens and see. I absolutley understaned what you are saying in that an RGP and/or a rigid soft design will "mask" the aberrated shape whereas a typical soft lens will not.

As of now, the Proclear Compatible lens (BC 8.2) is by far the best lens for me as it does not dry my eye out and I can see 20/30 with it. That, coupled with Alphagan-P at night is working OK for me. However, I would like to try a custom fitted rigid soft design and/or RGP. In the 1980's, prior to all this RS stuff I had done (RK, Lasik, transplant), I used to be a 2 handicap (in golf). If I can get back to those days again (12 capper right now!), I think this whole post RS nightmare may lift a little.

This is a GREAT forum! Thanks again,
mike

By rigid soft design, I mean a material that is a soft lens that has more rigid properties. Purevision feel very stiff, whereas av are very flimsy, although both lenses are roughly the same thickness.

ANother option is a reverse geometry soft lens. These are made by Wave and Gelflex. THe soft lens is designed for the shape of your cornea.

GP lenses are the best option as they give the best optics. THey are a little harder to adapt to, but if fitted correctly, they give excellent performance.
