I have heard all the bad news about central islands on this board that I can take.

Is there any hope for a fix, the best laser possibly, or maybe the best surgeon for this complication ?

I don't need any further hopeless negativism Smile

I hoping for some doctor that might have the insight track for any current or near future positive outlook.

If you cannot provide hope, please don't respond to this thread Smile

Thank you in advance.

Why don't you go see a doctor and ask him?

Jack Holladay, Sam Omar, Brian Boxer Wachler come to mind.

While we are at it, read between the lines, there are no great fixes for central islands. Lasers were designed for untouched corneas, not post surgically adjusted corneas. THerefore there is NO machine that is designed for this.

The fixes for central islands are done by covering over the surrounding cornea and blasting the uncovered bits. It doesn't sound very scientific, and it isn't. The good results are more due to skill (luck) of the artist controlling the laser. The good ones tend to get satisfaction from the patients, but the topography still looks pitiful, suggesting that they are settling for better than they had, not good vision.

Anyway, asking questions here is not going to help in this endeavour. If you want a surgical fix, go to a surgeon and get him to evaluate you and if he isn't comfortable in getting a good result, them get him to refer you to someone who is more experienced in the field.

In summary, the fixes for problems are not guaranteed, they do not necessarily give better vision than you have now, the result is stioll going to be affected by your healing rate and the skill and artistry of the doctor is paramount.

I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Don't know all your details but have you been evaluated for a wavefront guided procedure? Consider viewing the intended results with a prevue lens generated by a surgeon who utilizes a VISX Star S4 laser.
