that he did not say anything is not really the issue I would concentrate on. Your doctor saw the problem and was fixing it. DLK is your body reacting to something, not necessarily anything he did. It may be debris, it may be reacting against yourself. THe flap lift and irrigation is standard here followed by steroid supplementation.

He may be used to dealing with soldiers who are used to not being told anything. THe main point is that he picked up the problem and resolved it.

I'm not doubting his expertise as a surgeon. I have no doubt that the treatment I received was the appropriate response to DLK. My main concern was his reluctance to fully explain my complication and it's possible impact on my eyesight. It's a matter of trust. I don't want him operating on me if I feel that he's more concerned about covering his own behind than taking responsibility for the outcome of his surgeries.

Based on what I've read on DLK your absolutely right. No one knows exactly what causes it. How was I supposed to know this? He never told me anything about it. He never explained anything about sands of the sahara or that my vision could be permanantly obscured by white blood cells...or to what extent.

And from what I've read, there have been epidemic cases of DLK in the past. What if I had recommended this doctor to one of my co-workers and they also developed DLK? Or if I found out that several other patients who had surgery the same day as me had developed it as well? Thing is, even if there were other cases that day I'd never know about it since the doctor doesn't seem to feel obliged to fully disclose complications.

Doc, the ends never justify the means, and in my case the ends weren't that great. My dry eye and blurry vision are a constant source of aggravation. I'm worried and I'm angry. I think if they were your eyes you'd be worried and angry too.
