Date: 3-03-99 The morning of my surgery I called the doctor to cancel. I had been out on the net and I was concerned about night vision problems and the size of my pupils. He called me back to say my pupils were not that big and that I would be very happy with the procedure. He basically talked me into the surgery. Luckily (even though at the time I thought it was very unlucky) the cut of the cornea to do the left eye did not go well and only my right eye had the procedure. I had 20/20 vision at first and thought I had gone to heaven. Since it was my dominant eye that was done the doctor said I should try not to bother with my glasses and it seemed he was right. The first time I went out to drive at night I found out otherwise. The starbursts were so large I really could hardly see at all! I removed the lens from an old pair of glasses and with the left eye working also I could drive. I went to the doctor and he said the right eye had regressed and gave me a prescription for it. That helped a little but I still would not have been able to drive like that. The doctor said to give it time to heal and its been almost 3 months now without improvement. Even now the doctor is more interested in doing the 2nd eye when I talk to him. He wants to do an enhancement at the same time he does the other eye. Maybe he really thinks the right eye is still going to get better. I just saw that a laser company stock went up 11 points the other day due their large profits from this procedure. Its time a class action lawsuit against them was considered. If nothing else maybe they would then start to actually work on a fix for those of us that are casualties of LASIK. |
