Subject: Serious problems with my vision and getting worse

Dear Doctor:

Following my last visit to your office, my vision has been steadily worsening. The corrective glasses are of of minimal help. I need some undivided attention from you to help me understand what is happening to my eyes. Following is the background information.

As you may recall, during my last visit I wsa complaining from the halo and starburst effect in my left eye and how it was impeding my night vision. I di not have the same effect in my right eye. I visited you with the hope to improve my right eye vision by change or modifcation of my corrective glasses so that at least I could see well with my right eye. Your examination at the time left me hopeless since you decided that there is nothing that can be done to improve my right eye vision.

Since that visit late last year, my right eye's vision has become steadily worse. Now, with my right eye, I have a distinct double vision. Looking a red light in the street, I see two distinct images a few inches apart. On occasion, this double vision turns into three or more. As I get closer to the light, they come closer together. This happen regardless of the intensity of the ambient light. Over the past few weeks, this effect has continued to get worse. I feel that some of the same effect must be coming into my right eye too, because my vision is deteriorating in the right eye as well.

At this time, I am extremely frustrated and fearful of becoming functionally blind. My activities are fast being limited with my lack of adequate vision. The stress of trying to see from a blur of images has started making me very tired and the element of fear is growing in me.

For example, about four weeks ago, I was making several presentations to some New York financers. I could not read my own slides on the screen twenty feet away. I can no longer watch TV or go to movie theaters and enjoy them. Driving at night is becoming more and more difficult. In lower light environments, the coupling of the starburst and halo effect with the double vision makes my life really miserable.

You may not have an immediate solution for my problem. However, I ask you to work with me to understand what is happening and research to see if there are any solutions that can help my condition.
