I just found this website last week along with lasikdisaster.com, so I have not been able to read all the articles and listed on the sites. But what I have read so far scared me and it made me wish I would have found it 2 months ago!!

I have had Lasik surgery for very high astigmatism and farsightedness on January 8th 2004. So far (knock on wood!!) I have not had any significant symptoms and I have been pretty happy with the surgery (so far!!). I have some nighttime starbursts, but that is all so far.

I have researched lasik surgery before I have went ahead and had it done to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. But you can never read enough about it until you experience it yourself.

After reading the stories on this website and on lasikdisaster.com and experiencing the surgery, I am sure that I would not do it again. You read about it, you know what it is, but you do not really "get it" what is going on until you are actually under the knife and they are CUTTING YOUR CORNEA! I get all freaked out and I have goose bums even thinking about that now!

The two big realization that these websites made me think about and made me freak out for the rest of my life (at least), are the two things that I did not think about prior to the surgery:
1 - what if something was going to go wrong during / after the surgery?
2 - What are the long term implications of having this surgery done since there are no long term research on it?

So far it looks like that I can put my first concern to rest.
But I still have the rest of my life to keep worrying about number 2!!!!!
