Recently, I saw a Doctor (supposedly one of 2 best doctors in Dallas)to see if I am qualified for LASIK.

He allowed his assistant to do the examination. As part of examination, he touched the surface of my eye with q-tip several times. After that, he told me that I have some loose epithelium on surface of my eye which is called Basement Membrane Disorder (or Dystrophy). He recommended that I do PRK instead.

I decided to wait and think about it. Now, the bad news! Since his examination, I am seeing Halos at night time where before I had NO PROBLEMs at all.

So I made an aoppointment with the doctor again and told him about this. He suggested that I had this problem (loose patches on surface of my eyes) for quiet sometimes. But because of examination and touching my eyes, they have disturbed the condition and because of that, I see halos and it may stay with me forever. He suggested that surgary may fix this problem!

I wonder if doctors can know if someone has loose epithelium before examination. I think they shouod or at least they shoudl inform the patient that there is a risk!

Please be informed of this if you decide to do eye examination.
