Thanks again to all who've responded so kindly to my last post. This sense of community has been invaluable to me the last few days, and has really eased my anxiety.
I saw two opthamologists yesterday - the one who performed my LASIK and an independent one for a second opinion. They both concurred that my eyes have healed well - the flaps are fine, the edema is gone, my eyes are moist. I don't need to use any kind of drops anymore, although I can continue to use the Refresh Plus if my eyes feel dry or tired. They also concurred that my current poor vision is a result of residual myopia: - 0.75 in the right eye and -2.25 in the left. The LASIK surgeon said that was easily correctable with enhancements in both eyes 90 days post-op. The other opthamologist suggested I go back into glasses, as I can't tolerate contacts.
The LASIK surgeon provided me with temporary glasses until he sees me in 6 weeks (12/9). I have to admit that driving home in the sunshine with the glasses my long distance vision was spectacular. However, it's pretty funky indoors (kind of a fishbowl effect). Also, I can't read with the glasses on although I was never far-sighted before. I did drive after dark last night to see how I'd do - I still see halos and starbursts but am definitely better able to drive at night, although my vision is definitely not as good as it was pre-surgery. This morning my vision is pretty fuzzy, even with the glasses. I'm hoping that will clear up during the day.
I'm certainly not sure about enhancements at this point, although the surgeon said he would be happy to do anything I wanted - both eyes at once, one eye at a time, or not at all. He offered to put me in bifocals if I'd prefer to stay in glasses. I guess I have time to think about it and just hope that my vision improves.
