Dear Surgicaleyes Friend.
I thought you might read this letter to show the details of a lasik eye that went wrong in 2000. It might help you in deciding which is worth more to you. Your eyes the way they are now, or after the lasik surgery, what you will have to go through year after year because all you wanted is not to wear contact lens or glasses anymore. I hope this letter doesn’t go against Surgicaleyes policy, if it does, I am sorry. I have deleted the doctors name and any other information that would go against your policy. Thanks , Fred November 3, 2003 Dear Dr, I am writing to you in regard to you performing lasik surgery on both of my eyes on February 29, 2000. I paid you $3,390.00 on February 7, 2000 for lasik on both my eyes. You checked my eyes and told me that you could make my vision better than it was before, I believed you. On 2-29-2000, I went to **and you performed the lasik on both of my eyes and you told me at that time everything turned out ok. You then proceeded to have plastic lens taped on my eyes, gave me sunglasses, medicine, and instructions on what to do at home. In which I followed your instructions to the letter. Every day since I had the lasik and also before I was to see you again at your office, I had double-vision, blurry vision, and starbursts and glare. When I came for my next visit on Wednesday, March 8, 2000, I told you that I was having blurred vision and starbursts. You told me at that time that the healing is still going on and that my next appointment was for April 10, 2000 and for me to keep putting tears eye drops in my eyes 4 times a day in which I did. From Wednesday, March 8, 2000, after leaving your office, and coming back to you on April 10, 2000 and everyday from March 8, 2000 to April 10, 2000, I was putting eye drops in my eyes, I still was having problems with my eyes as I still had starbursts, double-vision, and blurriness. On April 10, 2000, when I came into your office, I told you that I still was having the same symptoms and you told me at that time that the blurriness and starbursts will disappear in a few months, at that time, I also believed what you told me . At that time also, you install a temporary plug in each eye to keep the eye drops in my eyes longer. My next appointment with you was June 12, 2000. Between April 10, 2000, when I last seen you to June 12, 2000, everyday, I still had starbursts and blurriness. On June 12, 2000, when I saw you I told you I was still having the same symptoms from the time you performed lasik surgery on me February 29, 2000. On that day June 12, 2000. Your office dilated my eyes, did a topography. The results of that tests you said was OK and the pressure on my eyes was OK, but I still told you that I was still seeing starbursts and glare and still having blurring and I could not drive at night because of the starbursts. Between June 12, 2000 and the next time I saw you, which was August 18, 2000, I was still having starbursts and blurriness. On Friday, August 18, I saw you again and told you the same things I had told you about my vision, and you told me I did not need any ENHANCEMENT even though I was still having blurriness, double-vision, and starbursts. I saw you again on November 20, 2000, and I told you again about the starbursts and the double-vision and the blurriness and you decided to put a semi-permanent plug in each eye without charge and you told me that that should help the blurriness and may stop the starbursts in time. I believed you that time too. Between November 20, 2000 and the next time I saw you which was January 3, 2001, I was still having the same problems with my eyes. On January 2, 2001, I saw you at your office and you told me at that time that you could not get rid of the starbursts that I was seeing, so you wrote me out a prescription for Pilocarpine ¼% to shrink my pupils at night so I could drive. This was your solution for me to stop seeing starbursts at night. I left your office with all your promises that you gave me in the past about the blurriness, starbursts and double-vision and glare would go away and at the end you told me you could not do anything for me to get rid of the starbursts and double-vision. Today is November 3, 2003. From the time that I had the lasik on both of my eyes, I have had starbursts (night), double-vision ( night and day ) and a lot of blurry vision with and without glasses, and I told you each time that I came to you the same thing over and over again and at the end of the promises, you told me that you could not do anything to get rid of the starbursts that I was seeing at night (night time is the hardest ), I cannot drive at night. Also the starbursts has messed up my entire life since I had the lasik surgery. I talked to *at *** the explaining the lasik surgery you did on me and all the details to him and he advised me to write you a letter explaining all the problems I have had with my eyes since the surgery that maybe you can offer a solution on how to correct these problems with my eyes. I believed in you when I had the surgery and I believe what you told me about eventually that the starbursts would go away and everything including the double-vision that I am still also having. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS. Thank you, P:S: The reason I know all the dates and how my vision was from day to day since the lasik surgery is that I wrote it all down in my notebook from day 1 to today. ================================================================= Later, I got a reply from Dr. **, he had me come in and checked my eyes and told me what was the matter with my eyes was they was dry. He proceded to put plugs in both my eyes. I told him that would not get rid of the starbursts, but there was no listening on his part. He told me to let him know if the plugs helped me in a month. I called him and told me that I was still seeing starbursts and halos. He told his nurse to tell me that he could do nothing to get rid of the starbursts This is what happens when we trust some doctors. I thought maybe our members might see the details in dealing with doctors that promises much, but delivers little. We pay and pay in this world no matter what happens. I would never be a doctor in any kind of profession that hurts people. The money would not mean that much to me. thanks for reading this. It's only to help would be lasik patients as the patients that have already undergone lasik surgery to testify to what I have been through. thanks again. |
