I posted recently about all of the issues I've been having with LASIK. I am only 2.5 weeks post op, and still in the healing process, but my doctors arent giving me any answers other than everything I'm experiencing (ghosting, blurriness, severe night blindness, headaches, etc) are all normal. My eyes were severly bruised after my surgery, and are a bit painful still to this day. I just want to know if this is common, or "normal" as I keep getting told. The bruises are under my eyelids on my eye and were bright, bright red, now dulled down to a slight brownish color. This is where the pain occurs and I'm wondering if the pain is more than likely associated with the bruises that seem to be healing? Could these bruises be a cause for my issues I'm having as well?

Thank you!

The bright red bruises are subconjunctival hemorrhages. They are not necessarily rare nor are they considered serious in and of themselves. They are likely the result of the high pressure of the microkeratome and the release of that pressure.

These will continue to fade and are not associated with any visual problem. In significant cases of subconjuncitval hemorrhages, there can be a feeling of fullness or congestion. The pain you describe, if derived from this, should resolve.
