Moose posted an article regarding Wavefront technology in the medical literature archive. Wavefront article
While it's nice to know that technology is advancing and may be helpful to some patients, for those of us with precious little cornea remaining, there is still no real help. I am never letting a refractive "surgeon" touch my eyes ever again. They are not to be trusted no matter what. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." McDonald - that name rings a bell. Holladay...
Yeah like I am ever going to listen to another word from their mouths again. I don't even want to look at them - not even the pictures of their faces. IMO this article should not be linked to this bulletin board. |

Tried all the wavefront lenses with no luck. Just made a appointment to the Boston foundation for sight to try the Scleral lens...I had RK that went wrong...worked fine for 10 years then my coreneas sudden started to for lack of a better word warp. This is my last step before cornea transplants I hope it works

Whether a lens works or not is often a function of the skill and experience of the fitter. Although many doctors claim to fit RGP lenses of all types, only a few are highly skilled and knowledgeable enough to design and fit custom lenses to surgically altered corneas with any success. Before you ever submit to cornea transplants, make absolutely sure you've explored every other avenue. One of our long-time members has undergone several lamellar grafts, as well as a full corneal transplant, which left her with 16 diopters of astigmatism that cannot be treated.
I wish you the best of luck at Boston. ODs Ken Maller in Ft. Lauderdale and Ed Boshnick in Miami also fit sclerals with success. Artistwoman/Barbara Berney President, Vision Surgery Rehab Network "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind." ~Mahatma Gandhi |
